Survivance
In collaboration with Haus der Kulturen der Welt, Berlin
This workshop looks into Survivance, as described by Gerald Vizenor, as an active sense of presence, the continuance of native stories, not a mere reaction, or a survivable name. Native survivance stories are renunciations of dominance, tragedy and victimry.” This gathering included the participation of GTO (Theater od the Opressed), Bissau; Coletivo Cadjigue; Clube Amor à Leitura; the Cassaca 64 Movement and the PDH – HSH (association activism for LGBTQ + rights) for an exchange of practices and living conditions, to expand on concepts of Survivance as a creative medium for investigating contemporary social conditions of inequality and as a ritual for environmental and social justice.
